WP Anything Downloader

65 Quality Score

Active Installs

16/30

With about 3,000 active installs, the plugin sits in a narrow niche and has modest reach compared to the 30,000 to 100,000 installs held by the leading alternatives.

Update Freshness

25/25

A maintenance score of 100 reflects the very recent update on 2026-06-04 and confirmed compatibility with WordPress 6.8.5, suggesting the author is actively keeping pace with core releases.

User Rating

6/15

A perfect 100 rating is based on only 2 reviews, which is too small a sample to draw real conclusions about reliability or satisfaction.

Support Health

8/15

No support threads have been opened and none resolved, so there is no public track record to judge how the author handles bug reports or troubleshooting.

WP Compatibility

11/15

Compatibility lands at 75 thanks to a low PHP 5.6 floor and a WordPress 5.9 minimum, which keeps it accessible on older hosts but stops short of a top score.

What It Does

WP Anything Downloader adds a download link next to each installed theme and plugin in your WordPress admin, letting you save a clean .zip copy of any one of them to your local machine. It works for both stock items from the WordPress.org repository and custom uploads, so you can archive modifications before updates or transfer assets between sites.

Who It's For

This plugin suits developers, freelancers, and small agencies who routinely move themes and plugins between staging, client, and production environments, or who want a quick local backup of customized files before running an update. It is a lightweight utility for anyone who values speed over a full file manager interface.

Who Should Skip It

If you need bulk downloads, scheduled backups, offsite storage, or any file editing capabilities, this plugin is the wrong tool and a full backup solution or file manager such as Filester will serve you far better.

The Bottom Line

WP Anything Downloader is a small, focused utility that does one job and does it on a current WordPress build, earning a quality score of 65.32/100. The tiny review pool and near-zero support history mean you are trusting an unproven author, so casual users may prefer a more established alternative. For a developer who just needs a quick zip download button, however, it is a reasonable pick.
